TXB0108 issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXB0108

Hi,the datasheet of TXB0108 say that:The A and B sides of an unused data I/O pair must be held in the same state, i.e., both at VCCI or both at GND.is it necessary?i think the unused IO pairs can be floating, because i think the 8 data channal is of independent with each other. even if it is not stable for a pair of floating pins,it wil not influence others. but i do not assure.I do not know wheather the floating pin can cause some problem or damage. i hope sb. can solve this problem, thanks.

  • Hi,

For TXB0108, if the input is floating, the output voltage is not well defined. We cannot make sure the output voltage. Thus, the note is put in datasheet “The A and B sides of an unused data I/O pair must be held in the same state, i.e., both at VCCI or both at GND”. It is better to give unused pins defined state for avoiding any uncertainty.

The eights channel are independent of each other. There is no damage and interaction when some channel pins are floating.

    Thanks
