Best line driver for 75 Ohm cable

Hi,

I'm searching for 2 line driver for a single ended connections to a 75 ohm cable. High speed (>100 MHz) and high output current is required (> +/-30mA). I found some options like, 74AS808, 74AS1008, 74ABT125, 74ABT126, 74AS1034A. Is there any other option available/advisable part for this kind of operation? Can I protect the output against short circuits without compromising the speed operation? Thanks!

I am guessing that you have a 5V supply. Any part in the ABT or AS family will work.

A newer Cmos option would be LVC little logic like the SN74LVC3G34. They come in 1,2,and 3 bit parts and can drive +/-32ma at 5V.

I am not sure how you would protect against shor circuits

Thanks for your recommendation. All parts referred should be fine :) For output protection I would put a resistor for current limiting at the cost a decrease on the slewrate.

Thank you for the answer.

But why not BUF602 or OPA693.

BTW, I`m designing now SPDIF driver circuit for 75 Ohm unbalanced and 110 Ohm balanced with transformers.

I think I can use differential output line drivers for both unbalanced and balanced circuits.

Could you advice me what part the best?

I need maximum performance for jitter and pulse shape.

Hi,

I think that there other analog parts to consider, like LM6171, LM7171 and also the digital gate 74F3037.

It all depends on the current and speed needs. You should take care about the voltage levels under load conditions and if meets the logic levels at the end receiver, in special using digital parts.

LM6171, LM7171 have Vs = 5.5V (min.) Out of my PSU voltage rail.

May be 74F3037. Not sure. Probably will use parts from TI. ;)
