Resistor on "DIR" input of Level TRANSCEIVERs

Heloo,

It is recommended to pull up or Pull down DIR pin to set the direction of level transceivers. Can I us a direct connection to the reference supply (without any resistor), similarly to ground (without resistor). Please let me know if it is having any disadvantage?

Am concerned about the Dual Supply Bus Transceivers like SN74LVC2T45, SN74AVCB324245 etc.

It is OK to tie the DIR pint direct to Vcc or gnd but the resistor is extra protection whent the part poweres up in case of power up spikes. You can tie the Dir pin high or low acording to the direction needed.
