Hi,

I have been using a SN74LVC1G74 as a frequency divider and it is working. I have PRE and CL tied to Vcc 5 volts. The problem I have is the input Vpp needs to be around 6-7 volts before I see the output frequency. Is there a way I can lower the input Vpp by about half, around 3-4Vpp to get the chip to work. Is there another chip that would work in this range?

I sound like you are My be using a sign wave for an input. LVC devices needs a rise an fall time less than 10ns/V. If this is what you are doing then you need to put a schmitt trygger before the input signal to bring it into spec.

Hi Chris,

I am running a square wave, but from your article it has the noisy signal pattern. So I will try adding the Schmitt trigger.
