    I'm afraid I am unfamiliar with the SND74HC85E.  Can you give me a web link or datasheet?

    In most of our parts, a prefix of SN74 indicates commercial aplications, and SN54 indicates military, with a few exceptions that indicate other more stringently rated parts.

    I was able to find the SN74HC85E in our database, but there was really no information attached to it except one word, "OBSOLETED."  I even looked through a few old data books here and can't find that part in any of them.

      I can only guess that the SN74HC85E was replaced by the CD74HC85E since they are both part of the same family and have the same function.  It is likely that they  have exactly the same specs.
