74ACT244 run at VCC = 3.3V.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74ACT244, SN74LVC244A

How will a SN74ACT244 perform when VCC is at 3.3V?  Will it operate similarly to the AC part?

In the current design it is interfacing between LVC parts operating at 3.3V.

  • Hi Steve, the part might work at 3.3 V but we cannot guarantee operation beyond datasheet specs.

Can you elaborate more about your application? More specifically, what about the ACT device is appealing? You could use another SN74LVC244A, which supports 3.3-V VCC.
  • It is not that it is attractive. These ended up on a design by accident, when a database was changed. I am trying to determine how important it would be to send all the PCA back to a vendor for an expensive rework. I am looking for guidance on areas that I might want to test for compatibility. The speed is not high, drive current is very low. In one case on input is driven by a 100k pullup to 5V, but the part is supplied with 3.3. In all other cases these sit between either pullups at 3.3 or LVC parts at 3.3.
