Which Level Shifter to Choose

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXB0104

I am trying to chose the correct level translator to do the following

Interface a 1.8V logic usart to a 5V RS485 driver chip, i have looked at both the SN74LVC Range and TXS (b) range, i only need 4 bits, so the TXB1014 looks like a good option. The Sn74LVC has a direction pin, which just complicates the circuitry, as well as 8 bits.

I also trying to drive TX and RX leds on the Lines, the RX is not so much a problem as it driven from the 485 Chip, but the TX Led comes from level shifter, than has a very low power output, i was planning to use a biased NPN or PNP transistor (biased at 10K) to drive the leds

Anybody have any ideas what is the most suitable device to use?
