Schmitt Trigger CD40106B date code difference 0444 (2004) and 0319(2003)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD40106B

Hello,

We are using Schmitt Trigger CD40106B in our product to interface a water level sensor. As a part of functional test the sensor input is shorted and the signal timing is measured. This signal passes through 3 stages of schmitt trigger.

We have encountered a problem during production testing. The ICs with date code 0444 (2004 date code) passed the test whereas ICs with date code 0319 (2003 date code) - Failed.

Is there any difference between  0444 (2004) and 0319(2003) date codes for CD40106B ? The datasheet shows the latest revision as REV D Sep 2003. Kindly provide me errata or revision change history for this IC.

Thanks & Regards,

Dhaval Mehta

  • Dhavel,
I will look into the changes to this part for you. In the mean time, can you post a schematic of this application and scope shots of the failure? I would like to know more about what this failure is specifically.
  • Dhavel,
I have verified that there were no changes to the part in the time frame you mentioned. Perhaps with a schematic and scope shots of the failure I will be able to assist in finding the culprit.
  • Thanks for the feedback. I had hoped that i would find some differences in the device based on date code. I can share the relevant portion of schematic with you. Is there any upload option in this forum ? or you can send me the e-mail address.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Dhaval
  • When replying to a message there is a "Use rich formatting" option on the bottom right where you can add links, pictures, etc to a post. You can also email me directly at emrys(at)ti.com. I prefer to keep to the forums so information is available for future 'generations' -- but if you prefer to discuss privately, that is fine with me.
