The given temperature range is for 'Ambient Temperature.' The IC temperature is 'Junction Temperature.'
From the link below - "Recommended junction temperature is less than 125 degrees C." 106 Deg C is acceptable.
The Automotive grade components are typically rated at higher temperature. I am looking into why this one is not.
