How to convert CD4000 part numbers to 74HC/74HCT part numbers

Hi:

I am cataloging my personal electronics parts inventory and I have some of the CD4000 series parts.  I would like to be able in future upgrade to the 74HCxx and 74HCTxx parts. Can you help?

James Goudrault

  • James,
The CD4000 parts do not have a direct correllation to the HC or HCT families. Most, if not all, CD4000 functions are available in the HC, HCT, and other families. However, what makes the CD4000 parts unique is that they are able to tolerate logic levels/VCC voltages greater than 5 V (up to 18 V). Our other logic families typically can only go up to 5 V. I've included a link below to our Logic Selection Guide. This guide provides an overview of our logic families with their various characteristics and available functions.

My recommendation is to look up the datasheet of each CD4000 device, then use the parametric search for that particular function to find the HC/HCT device with the same function.
