Hi,

My customer’s CD4051B design has the following configuration:

-          Vee and Vss are tied together to ground

-          Vdd and Vin range are per Case 1 and Case 2 below

 

Case 1:

Vdd= 4.75V to 5.25V

Vee=Vss= 0

Vin= 0 to 5.25V

 

Case 2:

Vdd= 10 to 20V

Vee=Vss= 0

Vin= 18 to 20V

 

Questions:

-          Will Case 1 work reliably?

-          Will Case 2 work reliably?

    Case 1:

    Vdd= 4.75V to 5.25V    OK

    Vee=Vss= 0                 OK

    Vin= 0 to 5.25V            OK  for either control or I/O's

     

    Case 2:

    Vdd= 10 to 20V           OK

    Vee=Vss= 0                OK

    Vin= 18 to 20V            not sure,  control limit would have an upper limit of Vdd +.5V,   OK for I/O's

     

    Questions:

    -          Will Case 1 work reliably?  Yes

    -          Will Case 2 work reliably?  maybe
