SN74LVC07A Open Drain Outputs. What happens if Output is connected to +28V thru a 2k resistor? See that Max Vo is +6.5V. What happens to the buffer? Also if VCC to Buffer is powered down and +28V Pull Up Voltage is still connected to Buffer Vo will Buffer act unpredictably?

Hi Colin ,

This is out of the abs max for the part . You will be doing some break the part testing scenarios . I dont exactly know how long the device can sustain such high voltages but It would break sooner than I think.

Colin ,
On another note , what application requires pulling up to 28V ? do you have any business case which could we can consider to develop?
TPL7407 is another potential device which I can suggest which are 40V output tolerant .
