SN74AVC4T245PWR 3.3V and 2.8V as bidirectional

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXB0104, SN74AVC4T245

Dear Community,

Is it possible to use this "SN74AVC4T245PWR" for level translating between 3.3V and 2.8V as bidirectional ? As per datasheet page number 16 (10 Power Supply Recommendations) states like below.

The A port and B port are designed to track VCCA and VCCB respectively allowing for low-voltage bidirectional translation between any of the 1.2-V, 1.5-V, 1.8-V, 2.5-V and 3.3-V voltage nodes.

Regards,

Azlum

  • Azlum,

Yes it supports bi-directional voltage translation, but it is not automatic. You must set the direction of translation (From-A-to-B, or From-B-to-A) by configuring the DIR pins. If you need the translation direction to be detected automatically, then the TXB0104 might be a better choice.

Does your application require automatic direction translation?

  • Dear Nirav,

I dont use automatic application. One direction application only.

In datasheet, it specifically tells about only " 1.2-V, 1.5-V, 1.8-V, 2.5-V and 3.3-V" translation. It doesn't states about 2.8V application.
Then how can I use this SN74AVC4T245PWR for 2.8V level translation application ?

    Regards,
    Azlum
  • Azlum,

Listed values in the datasheet are only examples of the most common voltage nodes. You can operate the SN74AVC4T245 at any voltage node between 1.2V and 3.6V.
