TXB0108 vs. TXS0108E

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXB0108, TXS0108E

I have inherited a design that uses a TXB0108.  One of the data lines on the VCCA side of the device is intended to drive a signal in a push-pull fashion which has a 1K pullup on it to VCCA.  The other side of the device is receiving a push-pull signal referenced to VCCB.

I have determined that the 1K pull-up is causing a major problem when the device detects a falling edge on the VCCB side.  I see a 40 ns ugly square-wave when the signal (RS-232 serial) on the VCCB side goes low.

I can't remove the pullup on the VCCA side because it is on a different subassembly.

The TXS0108E, a pin-compatible package, seems to look promising in solving this problem.  Do you agree?
