Is SN74AHC16244 capable of driving IOH=50mA?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AHC16244

hi,

Can you confirm that SN74AHC16244 is indeed capable of 50mA based on TI website.

I read the SN74AHC16244 Datasheet: SNx4AHC16244 16-Bit Buffers/Drivers With 3-State Outputs (Rev. H) (scls327h.pdf)
http://www.ti.com/litv/pdf/scls327h

As per the datasheet on page 5/22 the current stated is only 8mA at 5v supply. how to get the 50mA? is there a mistake in the datasheet?

Rgds,

  • TI says about the AHC family:

    • The AHC logic family allows designers to combine the low-noise characteristics of HCMOS devices with today’s performance levels without the overshoot/undershoot problems typical of higher-drive devices.
    • The output drive is ±8 mA at 5-V VCC and ±4 mA at 3.3-V VCC.

In other words, the output drive is designed to be quite low to reduce over/undershoot.

And the absolute maximum rating of the outputs is 25 mA.

The 50 mA value on the website is wrong.
