SN74LV126A for SPI

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LV126A, SN74LV244A

Hi Sir,

Sorry to bother you.

We would like use buffer IC " SN74LV126A " for SPI interface.

The SPI spec bandwidth is 16MHz.

Does SN74LV126A is suitable solution??

If not, could you share others parts for us??

Thanks for your reply.

  • SPI uses whatever frequency you configure it for.

Anyway, 16 MHz corresponds to a cycle of 62.5 ns, i.e., one voltage transition in about 31 ns.

See tables 6.6/6.7/6.8 in the datasheet. You will be fine if the load capacitance is small enough.

  • Hi Clemens,

    Thanks for your reply.

What is mean one voltage transition in about 31 ns??

If our VCC is 5v, SN74LV126A is suitable solution??

I saw " F @ Nom Voltage (Max) (Mhz) 110Mhz" on TI web, what is this mean?? 126A max bandwidth is 110M??

By the way, i found SN74LV244A, looks same function, but one 126A is buffer gate, 244A only buffer.

    What's different between them??

Sorry~so many question need confirm. Many thanks for your help.

  • "Bandwidth" is an analog term.

Anyway, the '126 is fast enough for you, and so is the '244. The difference is that the '126 has only four bits, and separate output enable inputs, and a different pinout.
