TXB0304 data rate question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXB0304, SN74AVC4T245, SN74AVC4T774

Hi team,

My customer is using TXB0304 in an application that FPGA<->TXB0304<-->TXB0304<-->FPGA.

Between FPGA and TXB0304 is 1.8V logic and between TXB0304 & TXB0304 is 3.3V logic.

Customer wants to achieve 100Mbps data rate in such application.  But I could only find in datasheet that TXB0304 capacitance is ~34pF and TXB0304 could achieve 130Mbps when CL is 30pF and Vcc>=1.8V.

Could you help to confirm whether in such customer application, 100Mbps could be achieved or not?

Thank you!

  • Luke,

To drive larger capacitance loads for a 1.8V to 3.3V application, I would recommend the AVC translators like the SN74AVC4T245 or the SN74AVC4T774. Was the TXB0304 chose because they need the auto-direction feature?

Also, I don't believe that we officially support cascading multiple TXB0304 translators back-to-back.

    Best Regards,
    Nirav
  • Hi Nirav,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, they chose TXB0304 because of auto-direction feature.

So what's the possible issue when cascading TXB0304? Actually, the bus between two TXB0304 have connector. Customer chose cascading TXB0304 to support hot-swap only. Do you have a more suitable solution for them?

    Thank you!

  • Luke,

What protocol is the customer using? I2C, SPI, UART? Please let me know and I will work on the correct recommendation. Thanks.

    Best Regards,
    Nirav
