SN74AVC1T45DCKR for voltage isolation

Hello,

We would like to use SN74AVC1T45DCKR in a scenario where VCCA =3.3V and VCCB = 3.3V. I have seen voltage translators where VCCA cannot be equal to VCCB. However in the case of SN74AVC1T45DCKR, it was not very clear from the datasheet whether VCCA can be equal to VCCB ( VCCA=VCCB=3.3V in our case). Could anyone please clarify regarding this? We have used the SN74AVC1T45DCKR for level translation in other sections of the design and would prefer to use the same device for isolation purpose instead of adding one more line item on the BoM. Therefore, this question.

Best Regards

  • If one supply were required to be higher than the other, the datasheet would specify the minimum difference.
VccA and VccB are completely independent; they are allowed to use the same voltage.

What do you mean with "voltage isolation" when both supplies have the same voltage? The only way to isolate the two sides is to power down the device.
  • Thanks Clemens for providing insights into this.

What I meant by "voltage Isolation" is that, there could be a situation wherein VCCA or VCCB will be OFF, meaning when a partial power down situation arises, we wanted to isolate the Input from the output and avoid any leakage between the 2 independent power domains. Since the device "1T45" supports partial power down, this should not be an issue. However, the only concern was whether VCCA can be equal to VCCB, for which you clarified. Thanks.
