No, I did not.

I would always read and compare the datasheets myself.

Here is the NXP part:

Both look identical. Look into the datasheets and compare the truth tables. I would be more concerned about the "A" in the part number. The NXP part is a 74AHC259 and the TI part is a SN74HC259. "A" means "advanced high speed". The TI part does not have the "A", so it is only "high speed". Compare the timings in the datasheet if this is critical in your case. From the pinout both look identical, but please double check the truth tables. Normally parts with the same name have the same functionality.

Coming back to the question from Frank ,would like to clarify that he was referring about the Q/P/S as the cross reference search in our website.

The code S:direct replacement is given only when both the pins are identical as well the parameters match. If there are difference in the parameters as pointed out by Clemens between HC and the AHC family , it cant be P2P replaceable.
