CD4013BE Failure

Hello all,

We use CD4013BE flip flop, but I detected a wrong functionality in a lot of units. The problem occurs in raw material before to wave solder. The flip flop is mounted in sockets. Test description: when mute button is activated a LED will have to turn on and a buzzer will have to sound. When the button is activated for second time, both (LED and Buzzer) must to turn off. This test is made in order to prove the correct functionality of the alarm capability in the product. We use your flip flop and another one of other brand. Only your IC fails. I hope you could help us because the other company does not use DIP packages anymore. I would like to know if this kind of problem is common.

  • hi Pamela ,

could you please send the schematic and scope shots . It might give some insights on the operation.
what is the voltage spec for the operation?
did you try A-B-A swapping to verify the failure follows the device ?
