TXB0104 drive strength

Hi,

In the datasheet of TXB0104 the maximum capacitive load at the output is mentioned as 70pF. 

How can this be computed in mA when the IO voltage is 1.8V ?

  • This limit is not directly caused by insufficient drive strength; section 8.3.3 says:

    With very heavy capacitive loads, the one-shot can time-out before the signal is driven fully to the positive rail.

    The VOH/VOL specifications have test conditions of 20 µA; this shows that this device is not designed to drive heavy loads in the steady state.

    The drive strength of the one-short circuit is higher; it's designed to be able to fully charge the 70 pF load before the timeout expires. However, that current cannot be computed without knowing the timeout value.

    How does the parameter input transition rise or fall time affect device performance?

  • You have identified the rise time constraints.

    When you go outside the recommended operating conditions, the device might no longer work. See Implications of Slow or Floating CMOS Inputs (SCBA004).
