Bidirectional translation for SPI at 66MHz w/30pF load

Hello,

I need to translate 2 unidirectional and 4 bidirectional SPI channels (1.8 to 3.3V) at 66MHz w/~30pF load -- can you recommend a part?

  • Hello Emrys,

Due to the high capacitive load and frequency we will not be able to use an auto-direction translator. Do you think a direction controlled translator will be suitable for your application? This will require the direction of the bidirectional lines to be managed using a control signal.

Generally SPI lines are unidirectional, is there any specific reason why these lines are bidirectional?
  • Thanks,

I haven't been able to get a good answer to that yet -- my current idea for a solution is to minimize trace length by moving the passive translator closer to the high-side devices, then use one translator per device to allow for isolation (the 30pF comes from 4 devices + a long trace).

I will see if a direction controlled device could be used.
