SN74LVC16T245: Undershoot and overshoot of SN74LVC16T245

Part Number: SN74LVC16T245

 Hi:

We are using SN74LVC16T245 on one of our communication board. We got a report from another company that help us developing this board that the input voltage of SN74LVC16T245 surpass the range of VI in datasheet which is from -0.5V to 6.5V.

So we measured input voltage again and got waveform. Overshoot reached 7.68V and undershoot reached -1.23V...(Both under 10ns)

Of course this input voltage will cause this IC to be out of warranty. But I want to know whether it will cause damage or malfunction?

  • Hello Suqing,

Any time you exceed the recommended operating conditions there is a risk for damage to the device and we cannot guarantee proper functionality. By exceeding the absolute maximum rating of 6.5V it is very likely that damage to the device will occur over long term use.
