SN74LS471 programming algorithm

I am looking for programming algorithm information for a part that I know has been obsolete for a while, however, I still have the need. It is for an SN74LS471N (or V). I am able to find the basic specs which seem to be about 4 pages from many datasheet archive places, but nothing I have seen shows the programming information. Where can I get this information. TI and National both made these parts, so I know that someone there has this information. It would help me any my customer greatly to be able to product to their customers. Please let me know if TI is willing to help.

TI never made a "SN74LS471". Do you actually have a chip with that label? (The web pages of all those fraudulent sellers on the internet do not count.)

The four-page datasheet of National's DM74LS471 can be found everywhere. It appears any additional information was lost long before TI bought National.

I guess that to program it, you select some address, which connects the desired word directly to the output pins, and then apply the programming voltage to some outputs to blow the fuses.

Numerous links to 4 pages of the National Semi datasheet can be found by typing "74ls471 datasheet" in a google search. I don't see an option to upload a file with this reply. Pasting links also does not seem to work well. Please contact me directly at my Altek email and I can provide what I found.

I believe the TI databook that contains this is the 1981 BOOK TEXAS INSTRUMENTS BIPOLAR MICROCOMPUTER COMPONENTS DATA BOOK FOR DESIGN ENGINEERS. Unfortunately, I do not have one of these books. I would hope that TI has a copy on someone's shelves.

Someone here stated that TI never made the 471 part, but someone else told me that it would be found in the 1981 TEXAS INSTRUMENTS BIPOLAR MICROCOMPUTER COMPONENTS DATA BOOK FOR DESIGN ENGINEERS. I am trying to find a copy of that. I know that National Semi also made that part and TI took over NSC, so I would hope that as a minimum, there would be a small library of printed material since the beginning of time for both companies. I will also search for this info from NSC, but coming to TI is where I would expect to find this info.

I was hoping to find subsequent pages with the programming information. I know it was there somewhere since I made a crude programmer for those parts back in the old days. I did find a link to the entire 1977 data book referenced at:

The data book in the last link listed in my last comment showed the SN74S471 programming procedure. It is the same as for the National series of the same 470 series of parts.

I found the 1983 National book with the 74LS471 parts at https://archive.org/details/bitsavers_nationaldaInterfaceBipolarLSIBipolarMemoryProgramm_64709010

The TI databook with the equivalent TI info is at:

Both of these contain the programming information I needed.

These are the entire books scanned and text searchable. This archive.org web site has hundreds of scanned databooks from many manufacturers available for free download.

In the future, please refer people to this web site when looking for old databooks or manuals instead of just telling people that your company has lost product information from older products. By giving people this resource, you give them the way to find out what they need and then some since they can find almost any databook they could ever need.

Therefore, I am finished as I have found the info I was looking for. I am disappointed that I was not able to get the help I needed here.

I hope you will forward this info that I have provided to others asking about older obsolete parts. Your customers will thank you.
