SN74LVC8T245: Max current and capacitive load

Part Number: SN74LVC8T245

Hi,

Should the device absolute max Current (I) of +/-50mA be considered “total” or “per channel”? Also, what is the max capacitive load each channel can drive?

Thank you.

  • Hi,

My name is Leo Rodríguez, Field Applications in the Bay Area.

The +/- 50 mA max current rating is per channel. However, please note that each VCCA, VCCB and GND has an absolutely max current rating of +/- 100mA, something to keep in mind.

Regarding the capacitive load, this is a quote directly from the product line:

"There is no max cap load on the datasheet specified. The cap load could be mostly the parasitic exhibited by lengthy traces which needs to be verified in their lab.
Could be calculated using C= i*dt/V , but the current needs to be limited to not exceed ROC (recommended operating condition) of 32ma. A 100ohm resistor would be good but the charging time for the cap will be long and would have to be dealt with."

    Regards,
    Leo
