TXB0106: Level translation for differential encoder signal

Dear all

I need to read the differential signals A+, A-, B+, B-, I+ and I- coming from an encoder powered with 5V.

The chip that should be read the encoder is powered with 3.3V.

So I'm thinking to use the TXB0106 voltage translator between the encoder and the chip: is the TXB0106 the best solution?

Hi Nicola,

Are the differential signals all 0 to 5V or do they use negative voltages?

Hi Emrys, thanks for the answer.

From the encoder datasheet: "the internal differential line driver (26C31) can source and sink 20mA at TTL levels. The recommended receiver is industry standard 26C32".

So I think that A signal is positive and -A is negative.

So the outputs actually are RS-422. The proper way to handle them is with a 3.3 V differential receiver, such as the AM26LV32.
