TXS0102: I2C application

Hi,

Customer would like to use TXS0102 for I2C data and clk application running at 400kHz.(from 1.8V to 3.3V) Since I2C need external pull-up resistor, this should be an open-drain application. Based on the spec, we can achieve 2Mbps for open drain application, so 400KHz here should be supportable with our, right?

I²C works just fine with the TXS. (Please note that it has internal 10 kΩ pullup resistors and does not need external ones, and that its rising-edge accelerators make the exact value of the pullups unimportant.)

Older revisions of the I²C Selection Guide (SSZC003) listed the TXS0102, but it appears TI wants to sell the more expensive TCA9406 nowadays …

THanks! So customer don't need to add external pull-up on SDA/SCL since we have internal pull-up already? Does it mean customer don't need external pull-up anyway no matter it's push-pull or open drain application?

Hey Antony,

Yes, external pull-ups are not required with the TXS family of translators.
