SN74AVCH8T245: Is min VoL level dependent on output current?

Part Number: SN74AVCH8T245

My customer is looking to use the SN74AVCH8T245 with a display controller. The display controller has a VIL of 0.2xVDD, at 3.3V this is 0.66V.  The SN74AVCH8T245, has a specified max VOL of 0.7V @ 3V and Io = 12mA.  Would this number be lower if less current was used?

Thanks,

Daniel

  • Hello Dan,

Yes, the VOL is dependent upon the loading conditions. At 0mA of loading, the output will essentially be ground, and at 12mA the output will be 0.7V (MAX). So theoretical worst case, if we assume a linear relationship would be 0.35V at 6mA, but honestly its likely going to be even better than that.

So, short answer is yes, but if you need some additional detail then let me know and I would be happy to help.

    Best,
    Michael
