Yes - that is the price for each chip when buying in quatities of 1000.
But Fifty dollars for one chip when buying in quatities of 1000 - why so expensive?!
So, when buying in smaller quantities, it's going to be even more expensive!!
It's only a 16-bit shift register - isn't it? I could get a box full of Stellaris microcontrollers for that much!!
After investigating a little I found we dont sell enough of these to get the price down. I checked the Compitition and they are getting a high price too.
Ah - that would explain it! Pity, though.

Other than stringing 2 cheap 8-bit shift-registers together, do you have any alternative suggestions?
