SN74LVC257A: Bidirectional signal on A/B/Y

Part Number: SN74LVC257A

Hello Team,

Want to verify for a customer if the SN74LVC257A supports bidirectional signal on A/B/Y? If not, what would be an appropriate alternative?

Our customer is planning to use it on JTAG and want to know if it would work. He has included a schematic for how he would like to implement it and I can send it over via email.

Thanks and best regards,

Jerry Leung

  • The A, B, and control pins are inputs only, and must always have a valid level.
The Y pins are outputs; they can be connected to some other active output only if they are disabled with OE.

To connect four bidirectional signals to two alternative destinations, use analog switches (see this search and that search for four-channel 2:1 switches).
