SN74LVT245B: the maximum data rate that SN74LVT245 can support

Part Number: SN74LVT245B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LVTH16374

Hi team,

My customer plan to use our SN74LVT245, they want to know the maximum data rate that SN74LVT245 can support, can you help check this? Thanks a lot!

BTW, would you pls let me know how to know or calculate the maximum data rate that our voltage translation/Level shifter device can support when give an dedicated Part number? Because usually these is no detailed maximum data rate that was clarified in datasheet, so it confused a lot. Thanks a lot for the support!

Best regards,

Sulyn

  • Hello Sulyn,
The short answer is 160+ MHz.

There is no simple calculation for a buffer's maximum data rate, and it is not specified for most logic devices. This is one of our most frequently asked questions, and the answer is available in our FAQ section here: e2e.ti.com/.../3540.05-timing

We typically recommend estimating maximum data rate by using a device in the same technology family that has a clocked input. In this case, there isn't a pure LVT device with a clocked input, so we have to choose a neighboring device, the SN74LVTH16374, which can support up to 160 MHz. Since the SN74LVT245B is much simpler and is built on the same technology with very strong output drivers.
