SN74LVC8T245: May SN74LVC8T245 Port B input maximum input current should be 50uA (ΔICCB)?

Part Number: SN74LVC8T245

Hi Sir

May SN74LVC8T245 Port B input maximum input current should be 50uA (ΔICCB)?

May we check why spec have no minimum value? It means don’t care about minimum?

  • Hi Bogey,

There is a great explanation of these specification in the application report "Understanding and Interpreting Standard-Logic Datasheets" (page 45-46)

Yes, the ΔICCB spec should be 50 μA. Note that the test condition indicates that the input is being held at VCCA - 0.6V, which will increase the shoot-through current of the input. This is actually a very good value -- many CMOS inputs have a rating of 500 μA for ΔICC.

We do not provide a minimum value for this, on any device. We do not recommend designing a system based on a minimum spec (which would likely be under 1uA), as this could result in system failures and is a very bad practice.
