SN74LVC07A-Q1: Can we power the device with 3.3v for vcc and use 5v to power the open drain output?

Part Number: SN74LVC07A-Q1

Hi team,

My customer wants to use the device sn74lvc07a-q1, but they have two questions want to check with you.

1. Can we power the device with 3.3v for vcc and use 5v to power the open drain output?

2.The device can compatible with CMOS for 5v application, right?

From the datasheet, the answers are yes. We want to double check with you about the two questions.

Thanks.

  • Hi Frank,

Yes, this is one of the application of open drain device to be a translation device when the output goes high and can be pulled up to a lower or higher voltage than the Vcc supply.
Device is overvoltage tolerant on the Input and output up to the datasheet recommended max of 5.5V.
