SN74AHCT244: SN74AHCT244 datasheet question about temperature

Part Number: SN74AHCT244
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , CD74HCT244

Hi,

I have a question about temperature in SN74AHCT244 datasheet.

The temperature range is from -40 to 125.

But at the bottom of the specification, it writes -40 to 85 degrees centigrade.

The official website is also -40 to 85C.

What do these temperatures mean?

Which one is operating temperature?

thanks.

  • Hi Wu,
The AHCT244 has not been temperature extended to 125C, so the Recommended Operating Condition value is incorrect. I'm not sure why the part was never extended, however, since all the similar parts in the same family were changed to 125C.

I will mark this error to be corrected, and also look into the reason why we didn't extend the part. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
  • Hi Emrys,
So I just want to confirm that SN74AHCT244PWR operation temperature is -40 to 85 degree?

    thanks.
  • Hi Wu,
    That is correct.
  • Hi Emrys,

    Many thanks.
  • Hi Emrys,
I have some questions need your helps.
Could you Suggest AHCT244 series temperature which one could achieve 125 degree?
Which logic IC is extend to 125 degrees?
In data sheet, how to distinguish extend to 125 degree?
If datasheet marked 85 degree and 125 degree , how to distinguish extend to 125 degree ?
    thanks.
  • Hi Wu,

I will try to answer each question above:

Could you Suggest AHCT244 series temperature which one could achieve 125 degree?

There is an SN74AHCT244-Q1 (automotive grade) that is rated to 125C.

There is also a CD74HCT244 that is rated to 125C.

Which logic IC is extend to 125 degrees?

You can find all 125C rated parts by going to the parametric search and selecting "Operating Temperature Range (C)" to only include parts that are rated to 125C.

Here's an example search: Buffers with 125C Ratings

In data sheet, how to distinguish extend to 125 degree?

If the device lists 125C as the rated temperature, then it has been extended to work at 125C.

If datasheet marked 85 degree and 125 degree , how to distinguish extend to 125 degree ?

This is obviously an error, so you should ask me, and I will tell you the correct value and work to fix the error (which takes time).
