SN74LVC1GX04: Output overshoot & undershoot.

Part Number: SN74LVC1GX04
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3204

Hi,

I would like to generate 12.288MHz clock using crystal. This clock is to fit into TLV320AIC3204 MCLK. In AIC3204 datasheet, I see the logic input is having CL=10pF and I=5uA. I have simulated the load with C=10pF & 600kohm resistor with 3V supply. However, I see overshoot & undershoot in the output as shown in the picture below. I tried to increase the Rs resistance but it doesn't help. So, any idea how to reduce the overshoot & undershoot?

Thanks.

  • Hello,
The output ringing is coming from the strong output driver (LVC1G04) connected to a light load. You can either increase the output resistance (add a series resistor) or increase the capacitive load (add a capacitor to ground). Either of these must be done at the output so it doesn't interfere with the crystal oscillator circuit (LVC1GU04).
