SN74LVC125A: about SN74LVC125ADR lightening test

Hi dear supporting team,

customer is using below circuit for doing lightening test  on SN74LVC125, the connection is thunder protector --->20 Ohm resistor ---> SN74LVC125ADR, the standard is 3KA,  and they will get below residual voltage between the 20Ohm resistor and LVC125, test at single side. the peak voltage is 15V, and last for 40us.  is is ok for our chip? tks a lot!

    Hi Vera,

    Exceeding the abs max value on the datasheet cannot guarantee the reliability of the device(long-term, even if it works for short-term) even if it happens for a very minimal amount of time. In this case, the voltage exceeds more than double the abs max which is not good.
