Hi Randall,

No the 74AC11138 would not work for this application. The SN74LS47 is better for this type of application.

To my understanding the outputs of the SN74LS47 has active low outputs and to my understanding I need active high outputs to drive my common cathode 7 segment display.

Hi Randall,

If that doesn't work you could also use the SN74HC595 which is a shift register to control the display.
