SN74LVC1G123: Maximum value for timing resistor?

Part Number: SN74LVC1G123

The application curves for the 74LVC1G123 only go up to a value of 200K for the timing resistor.  The specifications for the part only set a minimum value - are there any issues to be aware of in using values above 200K?  I'm trying to change an existing design to extend the pulse width and would like to go up to 499K for the timing resistor (C is 0.1 uF).  I would change the capacitor if I could, but we are maxed out on capacitance value for the PCBA footprint (0402)

  • Hey Matt,

Just remember that there's always some leakage current into any CMOS device.  The larger the resistor, the more that leakage will affect the maximum voltage on the capacitor -- at some point, the capacitor won't be charged enough to trigger the one-shot.
