TXS0108E: No output data for TXS0108E

Part Number: TXS0108E

Hi team,

Recently, many customers use TXS0108E or TXS0104. The common issues are as below:

1. The output signal is pulled down.

2. There is no output signal.

The customer's input signal is fine.

Case 1. IC

number: TXS0104

VCCA is 3.3V. VCCB is 5V. A port is the input channel. B port is the output channel. The data rate is 10K.

The output is no-load. The input signal is fine. The schematic is the figure 1. The output waveform is the figure 2.

The issue is when the input signal is the low level, the output level cannot be pulled down with a lot of noise.

                                                                                                         Figure 1

                                                                                     Figure 2

Case 2.

IC number: TXS0108E

A port is 1.8V. B port is  3.3V. A port is the input channel. B port is the output channel.

When the input signal is input to A port, there is no data for the B port and OE pin is pulled down to 0.2V.

Please check the figure 3 for the schematic.

                                                                        Figure 3

Would you explain the reasons for the case 1 and case 2?

Best Wishes,

  • Hi Mickey,

Case 1 suggests that the device has larger load than it is capable of handling.

The low voltage (Vol) is dependent on the input voltage and current through the TXS device. The below app note explains the factors affecting the Vol.

Case 2: I would not recommend using TXs for SPI communication interface since TXS is suitable for open drain interface such as I2C.

would the customer consider using TXB on this?

OE pin dropping to 0.2V is unusual. This means that the device pin is a short or almost low impedance to gnd. Is it only on a single device or multiple devices?

what are the external connection to the device? any scopeshots available for this?
