Dear TI,

I had asked parameter question about SN74AUP1G97.

My customer need you confirm below question:

ODM, please ask manufacturer to provide values used to calculate Pd value that is in DIDT. Need Pd value from manufacturer since it is not in Datasheet. Need documentation for Pd calculation.

Please help provide calculate and result of Pd, if it in datasheet, please provide latest datasheet for us.

    The maximum power dissipation can be calculated from the information provided in the datasheet. It's unfortunate that some manufacturers do not provide detailed information like we do and choose to only give you a "maximum power dissipation"... that number really doesn't help an engineer at all since it provides no context for operation.

    The information you need to calculate maximum power dissipation is:

    θJA - Package thermal impedance (given on page 6 of the datasheet)

    TJ(max) - Maximum virtual junction operating temperature, which is equal to Tstg(max), 150C, for logic devices (SN74...)

    TA(max) - Maximum ambient operating temperature (this is something your engineers should input)

    Assuming you are working this device at it's worst case limits, 

    Pd(max) = (TJ(max) - TA(max)) / θJA = (150 - 85) / 259 ~= 0.25096525096525 W

    You can recalculate for the actual maximum temperature for your system, unlike parts that just give a "max Pd" from some other manufacturers....
