Frequency Doubler

Hi i have a  TTL 4 to 5 volts signal , at 200 kHz i want to change the frequency from 200 kHz to 400khz keeping the voltage level and waveform same kindly suggest how can i do that. ?

Some suggestion are to use a PLL or 400khz signal and synchronize it with my signal, I need guidance how can i do that and which IC should i chose to that to make a complete circuit?

Thanks.

  • Muhammad,

If you have a 50% duty cycle to start with, but don't care about the final duty cycle, perhaps you can find a device that outputs a pulse on the positive and negative edges of your 200 kHz signal.

Another approach sometimes used for doublers is to take the device into some nonliear device and extract the 2nd harmonic. This would hardley be the same format though.

I'm not sure if we have any PLLs or clocking devices that work with 200 kHz input or not.
