SN74LV123A: About unused channel connection

Guru 19645 points
Part Number: SN74LV123A

Please let me know about unused channel for SN74LVC123A below;

①Are input side (/A, B, /CLR) connect to GND, is is correct?

②Is Rext pin left open, no problem?

 Because Datasheet P12 - figure 7 is described when CLR: Low ⇒ Rext is pulled high.

 I think that Rext is OK to open and forced High level output.

Best regards,

Satoshi

  • Hello Satoshi-san,
    Yes, the inputs can be all connected to ground (A\, B, CLR\). This logic state is defined in the first line of the Device Functional Modes table (section 9.4 of the datsheet).

    The Rext/Cext pin is recommended to be terminated HIGH (connect directly to Vcc).

    Figure 7 is showing the device's operation when connected normally - there is a resistor pulling the Rext/Cext pin to Vcc in this timing diagram. It is not an internally sourced voltage.
