CD54AC161: CLLCC vs CerDip Package Performance Difference

Part Number: CD54AC161

  • For content reference we have historically been using the SN (CCLLC package) version on the CD54AC161F3A (CerDip) and are seeing some higher current measurements.
  • Operating voltage is +5 VDC
    • SN54AC 161 (CCLLC) current draw 10-15 mA
    • CD54AC161F3A (CerDip) is in our new design and being used for an identical application, but these chips are drawing ~25 mA.

  1. We were told that both packages are identical dies.
    1. Can you speak to any idea of why the CD chip would draw more current?

  1. Has there been a Fab change where these parts are manufactured?

  1. Has there been any process changes?
