SN74AXC8T245: Multiple Direction Control

Part Number: SN74AXC8T245

Hi Team,

In the datasheet it says:

My question are:

1.What does "Simultaneous up and down translation is supported when both VCCA and VCCB are at least 1.40 V" mean?

2. When VCCA=1.8V and VCCB=1.2V, can the signal be transferred from B to A for bits 1:4 and A to B for bits 5:8?

Best Regards,

Hao

  • Hello Hao,

"Simultaneous up and down translation is supported when both VCCA and VCCB are at least 1.40 V" which means that if for example VCCA = 1.8V and VCCB = 3.3V then signal can be transferred from B to A for bits 1:4 and A to B for bits 5:8.

This means that if you are trying to translate from B to A for bits 1:4 and A to B for bits 5:8 and VCCB is 1.2V then this will not be guaranteed by the datasheet specs. This is because VCCB is not at least 1.4V.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Karan,

Does it mean that if VCCA or VCCB is under 1.4V, data can only translate from A to B or B to A for all bits 1:8?

    Best Regards,
    Hao
  • Hello Hao,

Yes, if VCCA or VCCB is under 1.4V then the datasheet only guarantees translation from A to B or B to A for all bits 1:8.

    Thanks!
