SN74LVC06A: Is the inverter buffer output high impedance when VCC is in 0V - 1.65V range?

 Hello guys,

 One of our customers is considering using SN74LVC06A for their new products. They have a question as the follow.

Q: Is the inverter buffer output high impedance when VCC is in 0V - 1.65V range? Also can the high impedance state be guaranteed when the input A = Low and VCC is between 0V and 1.65V?

    Hello Nakai-san,
    The SN74LVC06A is specified for Ioff, which means that the output is guaranteed to be in a high-impedance state when Vcc = 0V. From 0.1V to 1.65V, there is no such guarantee. The remainder of the specifications for the device are only valid from Vcc = 1.65V to 3.6V.

    The simple answer is, no, the high impedance state cannot be guaranteed when the input is low and Vcc is outside the recommended operating range (between 0.1V and 1.65V).

    There are devices that guarantee this -- it's a special feature called "Power-up 3-state". Unfortunately, it's only found in bus transceivers and I don't know of any open-drain parts with that feature.
