SN74LVC2G34: What will SN74LVC2G34 output if GND floating

Hello there,

We have a circuit need a buffer to drive a MOS Q1 to disconnect GND1 and GND2, as below.

My concern is what will SN74LVC2G34 output if it's GND is floating after Q1 is turned off? Will it damage SN74LVC2G34? or the output of SN74LVC2G34 is out of control?

Hi Mingmo,

Ground should always be the first thing connected in any system, and the last to be disconnected -- we will not guarantee the operation of a device when the ground pin is not connected properly during operation.

Here is another E2E post where someone floated the ground connection for an LVC device: e2e.ti.com/.../657273

The device will most likely not behave correctly when driven low. As mentioned in the post the low will probably be higher than 0V since ground is floating. There is no guarantee on the damage or the behavior of the device.
