SN74LVC8T245: Similar component

Part Number: SN74LVC8T245
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LVC1T45, SN74LV1T125, SN74LV1T126, TXS0101

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a component with the same functions of the SN74LVC8T245 (with an enable) but only with one convertor A1 -> B1 (instead of 8 convertors with this component).

Does it exist ?

Thanks

  • Hello, and welcome to the forums!

For a short answer: yes, it exists, and it is called the SN74LVC1T45.

To help you find the parts you need in the future:

There's a parametric search tool available on the TI website.  If you start here, then you can select which type of logic device you are trying to find.  In this case, you're after a direction-controlled voltage translator.

By filtering to "Bits (#) = 1" and "VCC (Max) (V) = >5.5", you get this short list of parts:

The -Q1 is an automotive part, the -EP is an "Enhanced Product" (aka high reliability) device, and the SN74LVC1T45 is the one I would recommend for you.

Here's a direct link to the search I made: link

  • Hello Emrys,

Thanks for your quick answer very detailed !
I did look at your libnk with the components short list.

The problem is I want to control the voltage conversion from port A to port B with an enable signal (and for that I need an enable port).
This enable port is present for the SN74LVC8T245 but not for components with less pins (at least that's what I saw), can you confirm this ?

So currentl, my solution would be to use the component SN74LVC8T245, link my enable signal to the OE pin, and my data signal to A1 (but I will waste all poins from A2 to A7) so I guess it's not the best idea.

    Thanks a lot,
    Thibault
  • Sorry I missed that in your post!

There isn't an exact match, however I think SN74LV1T125 (active low OE) or SN74LV1T126 (active high OE) might work for you -- assuming you only need a single direction of translation (A1 -> B1). These devices are designed to work with a single supply, so they can't do quite as large of a voltage jump as the LVC1T device, but they can do 3.3V -> 5V or 1.8V -> 3.3V (the two most typical voltage translation requirements).

If you need bidirectional translation and an enable, you could also look at the auto-bidirectional parts -- they don't have as much drive strength as the LVC family though (they are basically just good for signal conversion, not driving any kind of load). One example would be the TXS0101.
