TXS0108E: Application for CAN Bus

Part Number: TXS0108E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1051HV, TCAN1051

Hi,

Here are some question about TXS0108E:

1. Could I use TXS0108E for CAN bus interface?

2. Could TXS0108E work with TCAN1051HV?

3. If some I/O ports are not used, what is TI's suggestion? floating?

Thank you,

C.T.

  • Hi Chung,

CAN interface is differential as I know and TXS cannot work for differential signalling.
If not, please let me know. Also, what is the data rate, voltage requirement, number of IOs, signalling standards(Open Drain /PP) etc.

If the IO ports are unused on TXS, it can be left open and the internal pullup resistors will hold to their repective Vcc levels.
  • Hi Shreyas,

Thanks for your help, as I know, the differential signal is about the CAN side(CANH,CANL), and TX, RX works like UART, so use level shift between at this side and MCU should be ok.

BTW, I found that TCAN1051 has level shift inside for 3.3/5V MCU, so no need for aditional level shift, thank you.

  • Hi Chentsu,

I assumed that was the case as well. Thanks for clarifying and let us know if you need anything else.
