CD74HC165: PCB Layout Library and layout guidelines

Hello Sir,

I am planning to design our own PCB design using this device as SOIC-16 package. Please do provide me a PCB library file for EAGLE PCB software tool. And I need PCB layout/routing guidelines for this device or any reference design so that I can follow in order to make the PCB layout. It will be very helpful and highly appreciated. Waiting for your reply.

    TI doesn't directly provide libraries for every software platform out there, however we do provide detailed mechanical drawings in the datasheet (so you can make a footprint yourself) and the Ultra Librarian software is available on TI.com that contains footprints and 3D models that can be converted into many formats (link here: http://www.ti.com/product/CD74HC165/pinout-quality - see the "CAD/CAE symbols" section towards the bottom of the page).

    Most system designers create their own footprints depending on their application (for example, pads might be slightly longer for hand soldering, or extended under the part to support other package variants) -- however there are also many other resources out there that provide pre-made footprints (like Octo-part).  Personally, I like to make my own since I have had problems in the past with footprints created by "the community."

    For the CD74HC165, there aren't any special PCB layout/routing guidelines.

    For making a perfect PCB layout in general, I would usually recommend about 5 years of solid experience working as a PCB designer and getting reviews from senior PCB designers at least twice during the process. There are just too many things to list here that you should know to have a good system... even with 6 years of school + some experience making boards, there's plenty of "gotchas" in PCB design that good engineers miss.
