Dear Team,

I need a translation buffer to change 1.8V to 3.3V for LED CLK/DATA 5MHz outputs.

The clock will be Series clock, will it need smith trigger?

Is TXB0104 suitable here? or you will suggest another one?

Hi Kevin,

The TXB0104 is a weak driver, and if the data requires high drive strength, then TXB0104 is not suitable.

Would you consider using the SN74AXC4T245, which supports 1.8> 3.3V translation with 12mA drive strength, and >300Mbps data rate?

The TXB0104 or the SN74AXC4T245 doesnt have the schmitt trigger built internally. So, an external schmitt trigger would be required.
Else, SN74AUP1T17 can be considered as a schmitt trigger translation device, this has single channel output.

So if use series clock, will it need smith trigger?
If yes, can you share any document related to series clock and smith trigger?
I can't find documents explain series clock need smith trigger and how to use it.

But I still don't understand why series clock will need schmitt-trigger.

I suggested the SN74AUP1T17 if the clock signal requires a Schmitt trigger.
Please let me know what device you select.

Hi Kevin,

Schmitt trigger may or may not be required depending on the customer's system case.
If there is a noisy system or the input edges are slow, having a Schmitt trigger device would be beneficial.

Dear Shreyas,
Do we have buffer(without Schmitt trigger) and buffer(with Schmitt trigger) is P2P devices?
The customer mentioned, they would like to use buffer(without Schmitt trigger) first.
If they find issue they can upgrade to buffer(with Schmitt trigger) directly.

Got it, SN74AXC4T245 doesnt have schmitt trigger inputs. But the single channel SN74AUP1T17 has ST inputs.
Please let me know once the customer has finalized the devices.

Kevin,

The SN74AXC4T245 is 4 channel non-ST buffered translator.
There is no P2P equivalent 4 channel ST buffer.

For the SN74AUP1T17 is 1 channel ST translation buffer.
The P2P equivalent 1 channel ST logic buffer is SN74AUP1G17 and P2P non-ST logic buffer is SN74AUP1G34. both of the AUP1G17 and AUP1G34 doesnt do translation from 1.8 to 3.3V.
